bINITA PSP 1 2

I’m Binita Sharma Das, a counselling psychologist dedicated to creating safe, compassionate spaces where individuals feel truly seen, heard, and supported. For the past 17 years, I’ve had the privilege of working across diverse settings—hospitals, academic institutions, corporates, government bodies, and civil society organizations—each experience deepening my understanding of human resilience and connection.

Currently, I serve as a Consultant Psychologist at Apollo Excelcare Hospital, Healthcity Hospital, Ayonext Ayurvedic Clinic, Arhi Hospital, and 1to1help.net Pvt. Ltd., all based in Guwahati, Assam. I also work as part of the academic team at Healthcity Nursing College, where I continue to grow through teaching, learning, and engaging with the next generation of caregivers.

My academic journey reflects my multidisciplinary curiosity and commitment to lifelong learning. I hold:

  • A Master’s degree in Psychology
  • A Certificate in Counselling Psychology
  • A CPD-accredited and SHRM-certified PoSH Trainer certification
  • A Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy
  • Additional Master’s degrees in Philosophy (MA in Philosophy) and Business Management (MBA), reflecting my deep interest in both human behavior and organizational dynamics

Over the years, I’ve had the honor of working with meaningful initiatives such as the Navajeevan Rehabilitation Centre Women and Child (Assam Centre for Rural Development), and ASHADEEP’s community-based mental health project. I also contribute through leadership roles in causes close to my heart, including W.O.M.E.N (focused on women’s empowerment) and MATRI (a child rights advocacy platform).

At the heart of all my work is a belief: that healing happens in the presence of safety, dignity, and empathy. Whether through therapy, training, or advocacy, I strive to be a companion in others’ journeys—offering not answers, but presence, patience, and hope.

Your Mental Well-Being

Building a network of supportive people who truly understand you is vital. When life feels overwhelming, reaching out to someone you trust—a friend, family member, or therapist—can make all the difference. You don’t have to carry the weight alone. Leaning on others and sharing your feelings can lighten the load and remind you that you’re not alone on your journey.

Taking time for yourself is not a luxury—it’s a necessity. Whether it’s through rest, engaging in hobbies, moving your body, or simply practicing mindfulness, self-care helps you replenish your inner resources. It’s okay to pause, breathe, and nurture your soul. You deserve it. Self-care isn’t selfish; it’s a way to ensure that you’re mentally and emotionally strong, ready to show up for yourself and others

Learning to recognize and honor your limits is an act of self-compassion. Emotionally, mentally, and physically, we all have boundaries that help protect our well-being. By setting clear, respectful boundaries in your relationships and daily life, you create the space you need to thrive and prevent burnout. Remember, saying “no” when you need to is not a weakness—it’s an essential practice for preserving your peace and energy.

Being aware of shifts in your mood, behavior, or thoughts can be incredibly empowering. Early signs of stress, anxiety, or emotional fatigue are your body’s way of asking for care. When you tune into these signals, you give yourself the opportunity to take action before things grow too heavy. Self-awareness is the first step toward healing and finding balance again. Trust yourself—you are capable of navigating these moments with kindness and grace

THE HEART BEHIND MY JOURNEY

PROJECT RAINBOW

One of the questions I’m often asked—by clients, interns, and even friends—is what led me to become a psychologist. The truth is, it wasn’t a single moment of clarity or a childhood dream. It has been, and continues to be, a deeply personal journey of self-discovery.

I began walking this path during one of the most painful and confusing periods of my life. I felt lost—disconnected from myself, uncertain about who I was beneath the layers I had learned to wear. In that silence, I began to ask myself:
Who am I?
What truly defines me?
Is it the habits I’ve built over time? The masks I’ve learned to wear? The image others hold of me—shaped by their judgments, projections, and expectations? Am I defined by my past—my wrong turns, my addictions, my mistakes, my triumphs, and my pain? Or… am I simply someone who, like so many of us, has tried to hide away the most fragile, fearful parts of myself, hoping no one would see?

Although I haven’t found all the answers—and perhaps never will—sitting with these questions gently revealed something quiet yet steady beneath the surface: a presence. A part of me that simply watches, feels, listens… and exists. In the stillness, especially in moments of solitude—when there was no one to impress, no roles to fulfil—I began to catch glimpses of my truest self. And slowly, I started to understand that healing isn’t a finish line to cross. It’s a tender, lifelong journey of coming home to who we are, again and again.

If there’s one thing I know with certainty, it’s this: I am not perfect. I am still learning. Still unlearning. Still evolving. And that truth humbles me—every single day, both as a human being and as a therapist.

This ongoing process of becoming continues to shape me. My past struggles, my insecurities, my missteps—they haven’t disappeared. They still live within me, but they no longer hold the same power. Instead, they serve as reminders: to stay grounded, to hold space with empathy, and to meet others not from a place of knowing better, but from a place of walking alongside.

I believe counselling is not merely about fixing what feels broken. It’s about holding sacred space for the full, complex spectrum of human experience—pain and joy, fear and courage, shame and resilience. In every story shared within my therapy space, I find new wisdom, new understanding. Each person who walks through my door becomes a teacher in their own way. And for that, I remain deeply, quietly grateful.

I call this unfolding journey Project Rainbow—a symbol of hope, of healing, and of the wholeness that can emerge after life’s most difficult storms. I don’t walk ahead of you with all the answers. I walk beside you—with humility, with compassion, and with deep respect for the courage it takes to show up, just as you are.
